The NAACP Reginald F. Lewis Youth Entrepreneurial Institute is an out-of-school based program offered through a partnership with Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU's) in nine cities across the country. The NAACP Reginald F. Lewis Youth Entrepreneurial Institute is designed to provide youth with an opportunity to learn how to develop a business idea and turn it into a successful business venture. The overall goal of the program is to inspire young people to view entrepreneurship as an option for success and to teach them the skills required to become successful business owners.
The Institute focuses on empowering youth through an entrepreneurial program that fosters pride, self-esteem, a sense of achievement, and leadership. Through the Institute, students learn real world business skills, the importance of technology in business, team building, financial management, communications skills, and business etiquette. The Institute focuses on preparing young people to become entrepreneurs, while preparing them for academic success, leadership, and career development.
The NAACP is committed to providing quality programs for young people to excel in entrepreneurship. The success of the NAACP Reginald F. Lewis Youth Entrepreneurial Institute continues to be credited to the many students, parents, community volunteers, corporate sponsors, and organizations that are committed to providing young people with the necessary skills to become full stakeholders in the economic and social revitalization of their community. At the NAACP, we view the YEI program as an opportunity not only to make a real difference in the lives of our young people today, but to offer these students challenges and goals that will help them prepare for their future endeavors.
