45th NAACP Image Awards Submissions Set New Record
Posted on December 05, 2013
The number of submissions received this year for the 45th NAACP Image Awards is unprecedented. Contributing to this year's high-level of participation was the ability to submit nominations online, as well as an increase of quality projects and performances across motion pictures, television, recording and literature.
NAACP Image Awards Chairman, Leonard James, III commented on this year’s successful submission process:
We have always received submissions each year from the best of the best in their respective categories, but this year's level of interest in the NAACP Image Awards has been truly astounding.
Online voting begins on December 9, 2013, this will officially complete this year's submissions process. There is a 300-person Nominating Committee and 20 sub-committees that will have until December 30, 2013 to select from nearly 1,600 entries for the 54 award categories.
Robin Harrison from NAACP Hollywood Bureau commented about the new digital components of this year’s nomination process:
Each year, we have taken innovative steps in moving the NAACP Image Awards submissions process more and more into the digital age and uniquely prepare us to stay competitive in the industry.
The nominees will be announced at the Television Critic Association Winter Press Tour on January 9, 2014, in Pasadena. The 45th NAACP Image Awards will be broadcast live from Pasadena on Saturday, February 22, 2014 on TV One.
