A Walk to Remember

On June 22nd, the "Walk to Freedom" will take place in Detroit, Michigan. This event will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s "I Have A Dream" speech that followed the historic March on Washington.
Expected attendees include Mr. Martin Luther King III, Dr. C.T Vivian, NAACP President Ben Jealous, Reverend Jesse Jackson, Reverend Al Sharpton, and Mr. Dick Gregory. The walkers will assemble at Forest and Woodward Avenue and start walking at 9 in the morning towards Hart Plaza where there will be a rally in progress.
Reverend Wendell Anthony, NAACP Detroit branch president said,
This is more than a march. This is about coming together and making Dr. King's dream of 1963 a reality in 2013.
The walkers will be walking the same path as King once did 50 years ago. Anthony said the goal of the walk is to transform The “Walk to Freedom” is a time to reflect on fulfilling the vision that Dr. King had of true equality and justice.
