As the nation struggles to recover financially, The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) launched the Financial Freedom Center and a bold campaign to assist communities dealing with today’s financial challenges. Last week, Dedrick Muhammad, Senior Director of Economic Programs, discussed the launch of the Financial Freedom Center and the Financial Freedom Campaign’s goals in the coming months.

The Financial Freedom Center Campaign is based on the theory that when organizing and community mobilization are combined with improved access to quality products and services and monitoring to ensure the absence of discrimination, the result is improved financial security and economic solvency. The Financial Freedom Campaign intends to enhance the capacity of African Americans and other underserved groups with the knowledge and information necessary to effectively manage their personal finances and credit in today’s economic environment.
