Michigan State Conference NAACP, United States Student Association Foundation, American Civil Liberties Union Fund of Michigan, American Civil Liberties Union of Michigan negotiated a settlement for a complaint against Terry Lynn Land, MI Secretary of State.
The lawsuit demanded that Michigan's Bureau of Elections discontinue their practice of cancelling or rejecting a voter's registration based upon the return of the voter's original voter identification card as undeliverable. Remove the "rejected" marking in the Qualified Voter File from the registrations of all voters whose original voter IDs were returned as undeliverable from 2006 to 2009.
This practice had resulted in the cancellation of the registration of voters who have applied for out of state driver's licenses, or the cancellation or rejection of voters' registrations based upon the return of original voter identification cards.
