The NAACP released the 'Minnesota Just Energy Policies' report this week. The NAACP Minnesota State Conference of Branches report assesses energy policy in the state through a civil rights lens. It provides analysis of Minnesota's energy sector policies based on both the environmental and economic impacts.
The report assesses the state on five different criteria: Renewable Portfolio Standards, Energy Efficiency Resource Standards, Net Metering Standards, Local Hire Provisions, and Minority Business Enterprise Provisions.
The Minnesota NAACP encourages the state to "focus on solar, wind, and geothermal energy as the best possible sources for clean energy development" and believes that "the state should set aside funds to ensure that disadvantaged businesses access contracting opportunities," among other recommendations.
