The NAACP is pleased to support the Obama Administration's development of a comprehensive HIV/AIDS strategy. We are encouraged that HIV/AIDS has been made a national priority, and that the disparities, in regard to HIV, that exist between communities of color and the nation as a whole, have been highlighted. The National HIV/AIDS Strategy for the United States was released during the NAACP's 101st national convention in Kansas City, Missouri. President Barack Obama, in his address, commended all those in the fight against HIV/AIDS, but acknowledged that there is so much more work that needs to be done.
