Our Job Is Not Yet Done with Health Care Reform

By Shavon Arline, NAACP Health Care Programs Director As discussions of the war in the middle east and job creation begin to take over the airways, health reform is slowly taking a back seat in the media, but clearly we have not yet finished the job. There is still work being done in the senate to vote on a health care bill. Why is this so important? If you are a person of color, someone who has lost their job or someone who has lost access to healthcare, you are at risk. In the midst of all the debate and the emergence of new priorities, there are innocent lives being lost at the hands of the current health care system.
