“Pausing” and Taking Stock and Reclaiming Climate Justice
Posted on December 03, 2009
By Jacqueline Patterson, Director of the NAACP Climate Gap Initiative At the end of June of this year I joined a fantastic group of climate justice activists at the scenic Bluewater Farm in Andover, New Hampshire at a retreat called "The Pause". The purpose of our gathering was to take a moment to step back and consider the state of the discourse around climate, what frames and messages are being advanced, and how we can change the picture to a people centered dialogue that is led by people who stand to be most affected by climate change, namely communities of color as well as low income communities.
