Posted on February 25, 2011 by Oscar Munoz, NAACP Image Awards Intern & Howard University Student
The 42nd NAACP Image Awards will be airing live on FOX March 4, 2011 8/7c, this year’s nominees have been causing quite a stir in many discussions from both the Smith siblings receiving nominations for their first time to the 19 nominations Tyler Perry received for his productions. I set out to capture students’ thoughts and perspectives about some of nominees on the campus of Howard University. Howard University is located in our nation’s capital Washington, D.C., it is a historic institution that has produced many successful African-Americans on both national and international levels in many work fields.
Students were shown the list of categories and nominees and were asked to pick a winner. Also, they shared their reasons to why the nominee they chose was the most deserving of an Image Award. In addition, students were asked to pick two presenters to represent world peace. Many students admitted that it was difficult to choose a winner among nominees or a representative for world peace. All of their responses were interesting and insightful. Please take a moment to watch the video and you are welcome to share your comments. Although, these are just individual opinions but the real results will be revealed March 4. This year’s NAACP Image Awards is promise to be exciting, don’t forget to tune in.Tweet
