The NAACP, the nation’s foremost advocacy and civil rights organization, issued the following statement today regarding the White House’s position on, and the growing, divisive sentiment toward some professional athletes exercising their right of free speech:

On August 1, 2017, the U.S. Senate approved S. 860, the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Reauthorization Act of 2017, bipartisan legislation that reauthorizes, updates, and improves the 1974 Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act (JJDPA).

Between July 25 and July 28, 2017, the U.S. Senate considered legislation to repeal and replace, in varying degrees, the 2010 Affordable Health Care Act (a.k.a. “ACA”, a.k.a. “Obamacare”).
