As soon as the week of September 25, 2017, the United States Senate may begin consideration of the latest legislative attempt to “repeal-and-replace” the Affordable Care Act (“ACA”, or “Obamacare”). The new bill, known as “Cassidy-Graham” (after the two primary authors, Senators Bill Cassidy, LA, and Graham, SC) would be as devastating as past plans to the health of millions of Americans, especially low income Americans, racial and ethnic minorities, children, seniors, and the disabled. It would cause many millions of people to lose coverage, radically restructure and deeply cut Medicaid, eliminate or weaken protections for people with pre-existing conditions, and increase out-of-pocket costs for individual market consumers.
Please contact your elected representatives this week and let them know that you are opposed to any “repeal” or “repeal-and-replace” of the Affordable Care Act (ACA). For more information on this issue, please see the attached Urgent Action Alert.
