The NAACP joined an amicus brief in support of the respondent who argued that Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act was validly enacted pursuant to the power of Congress under Section 5 of the Fourteenth Amendment. Other amici curiae include the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, the National Asian Pacific American Legal Consortium and the Puerto Rican Legal Defense and Education Fund.
