Hollman v. Cisneros

United States District Court for the District of Minnesota, No. 4-92-712.

Plaintiffs, including the Minneapolis Branch of the NAACP, sued Andrew Cuomo in his official capacity as Secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development and several others, alleging the perpetuation of de jure racial segregation in low-income housing. The suit also alleged that the City of Minneapolis and its agencies had repeatedly demolished low-income communities without regard to the impact on displaced tenants. The parties entered into a consent decree whereby HUD and local authorities agreed to submit their proposed demolitions to the plaintiffs for review prior to implementation.
