NAACP by its Omaha Branch, and on behalf of its individual members v. HEINEMAN

U. S. District Court District of Nebraska (2006)

This lawsuit seeks to challenge action by the State of Nebraska that will serve to create three racially distinct school districts in Omaha, thereby violating the bedrock constitutional principle embodied in Brown v. Board of Education, 347 U.S. 483 (1954), and subsequent cases that "in the field of public education the doctrine of separate but equal has no place." The Omaha Branch is represented by the NAACP Legal Defense & Educational Fund, the firms of Kutak Rock (Omaha) and Hogan & Hartson (D.C.), and the NAACP Legal Department.
