This employment discrimination case is really four separate and consolidated cases against the Florida Department of Corrections. The Florida State Conference of Branches is one of forty-six (46) original plaintiffs in these consolidated cases. Ten individual plaintiffs went to trial on October 28, 2002. This was a two week jury trial. On November 11, 2002, an all-male, all-white jury returned defense verdicts in favor of the Florida Department of Corrections on every claim. In July 2004 the District Court Judge denied the NAACP's claims for injunctive relief. The Florida NAACP and several individual plaintiffs entered into stipulations of dismissal for all remaining claims. On March 24, 2005, the Court denied defendant Florida Department of Corrections' Motion to tax costs and expert fees.
