NAACP Leaders Named Among The Root 100

President & CEO Benjamin Todd Jealous, was named the highest-ranking honoree for The 2013 Root 100. Jealous is credited with reviving a more progressive focus to issues like stop and frisk, voter suppression, marriage equality and criminal justice. 

Additionally, Jotaka Eaddy, Senior Advisor to the President & CEO/Senior Director, Voting Rights Initiative, was named as an influencer for being an outspken activist for voting rights.

The Root  examines the influencers of the most significant moments in black news and culture from the previous year to determine The Root 100. 800 individuals were nominated and narrowed down to a list of 100.  Kerry Washington, Kendrick Lamar, Melissa Harris- Perry and Serena WIlliams are also honorees.
