Statement From Julian Bond Regarding The Death Of Pope John Paul II

April 4, 2005

"We join in mourning the death of Pope John Paul II. He will long be remembered for taking Catholic teachings on just wars, defense of the poor, for racial justice and against the death penalty to a world-wide audience. He will be much missed."

Its half-million adult and youth members throughout the United States and the world are the premier advocates for civil rights in their communities and monitor equal opportunity in the public and private sectors.
