The NAACP today announces a strategic partnership with University of Phoenix to internally provide web-based advocacy and leadership training to NAACP executives and branch officers.
“We are pleased to have University of Phoenix as one our partners,” said NAACP Interim President & CEO Dennis Courtland Hayes. “The partnership enables the NAACP to effectively and efficiently expand educational opportunities and training to thousands of our volunteers across the country and exemplifies the University of Phoenix’s commitment to being a socially responsible institution.”
Approximately 2,000 individuals are expected to benefit from the training each year.
“University of Phoenix has brought the modern conveniences and technologies of the 21st century to students around the country and throughout the globe,” said Bill Pepicello, President, University of Phoenix. “We are pleased that an organization that has been a long time champion of social justice for different minority groups can benefit from such training, as well.”
“The customized training will incorporate University’s innovative electronic learning tools, ranging from online forums and webinars to video on-demand recordings of NAACP leaders,” said Johnette Ruffner-Ceaser, who heads the NAACP’s national training unit which developed the curricula. “Sessions will cover the fundamentals with respect to NAACP operations, policy and advocacy. This instruction will enhance individuals’ service to the organization, its purpose and goals.”
