The March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom took place in Washington, D.C., on August 28, 1963. Attended by some 250,000 people, it was the largest demonstration ever seen in the nation's capital, and one of the first to have extensive television coverage. Shortly Following on September 19, 1963 Iota Phi Theta Fraternity was Founded Reflective of the spirit of the Movement for Change and Equality.

Iota Phi Theta Proudly Celebrates its Purpose Development and Perpetuation of Scholarship, Leadership, Citizenship, Fidelity and Brotherhood.

Purpose of Event:

The purpose of the Parade is in Celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the March on Washington, and the Founding of Iota Phi Theta
Fraternity, Inc. This event will be open to all members of the Community. The intention of the event is to create an annual celebration of Marching Bands, Clubs and Organizations, within the community in celebration of diversity, and equality, and Progress.

Objectives:

To Celebrate and Generate awareness of the progress African American's have made in the last 50 years since our historical March for Jobs in Freedom in 1963.
To Celebrate the Spirit of the Dream envisioned by the Famous "I have a Dream Speech." by inviting members from a diverse community to celebrate in the spirit of togetherness.
