Nicole E. Kenney

Nicole E. Kenney is the Communications Associate for the Economic Department at the NAACP. In this capacity, Ms. Kenney manages the Economic Department's communications (including publications, communications operations and digital presence) to advance the Department’s national advocacy efforts around economic justice and fairness. Ms. Kenney also provides strategic programmatic and research support to the Sr. Director to undergird program agendas and special projects. 

The department head, Dedrick Muhammad, is a regular contributor to multiple blogs including BET News, Black America Web and Black Voices and has been featured on The Root and Ebony.com, and Huffington Post Live for video commentary.  Ms. Kenney also works with several publications, such as The Grio, to highlight other voices in the Economic Department.

Prior to working with the NAACP, Ms. Kenney was a Program Manager at Innovation Philadelphia, a regional economic development organization, where she managed creative economy events for entrepreneurs, small business owners and young professionals.

Ms. Kenney holds a Bachelor of Arts from Smith College in Government and Psychology and was the recipient of Smith College’s Barbara Jordan Public Policy Award. She received her Masters in Public Policy from Johns Hopkins University where her research interests were race, ethnicity and social policy.
