Brenda Watkins Noel
Chief Financial Officer
Brenda Watkins Noel is the Chief Financial Officer for the NAACP. She brings to the Association over thirty-five years of seasoned financial management expertise which she accumulated from a range of strong non-profit, banking, audit, and educational experiences. Ms. Noel's career has also demonstrated a longstanding commitment to promoting equality.
Having most recently served as an adjunct professor and teaching various accounting courses in Howard University's School of Business, Brenda recently concluded a brief stint as the CFO of minority-owned Independence Federal Savings Bank in Washington, D.C., before its sale and merger with another bank. The overwhelming majority of her professional career was spent at the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies, where, as the institution's chief financial officer, she led and managed its day-to-day accounting and financial operations, management/reporting, budget development, contracts, and other administrative and human resources services.
Brenda was raised in Martinsville, Virginia and the first in her family to graduate from college. She earned a B.S. in Accounting from Hampton University, a MBA from the University of the District of Columbia and her certification in Organizational Development and Strategic Growth from the George Washington University. She is also a Certified Public Accountant.
