Opportunity & Diversity Report Card
The Opportunity & Diversity Report Card: Hotel & Resort Industry examines the five largest hotels in the country--Hilton Worldwide, Hyatt Hotels Corporation, Marriott International, Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide, and Wyndham Hotel Group- for their workforce (entry level to general manager) representation of African Americans and other employees of color as well as their supplier diversity and hotel ownership.

The report highlights that diversity and inclusion remains low specifically at the management, property ownership, and supplier diversity levels. Considerable gains must be made to better reflect the demographics of the United States--where communities of color make up one-third of the current population.
What You Can Do
The advocacy web tools below are aimed at equipping you to support us in improving diversity and inclusion practices in the country’s leading hotels. The web advocacy tools include an action guide along with an interactive map highlighting diversity data for the top 100 tourism cities nationwide. These efforts are part of NAACP’s strategy to increase the transparency of leading hotels’ hiring practices and to enforce the hotels’ collection of EEO-1 reports from all of the franchisees that fall under the hotels’ corporate umbrella.Top 100 Tourism Cities: Interactive Map

This toolkit is designed to help you understand the value and purpose of an Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO-1) report and how to evaluate a hotel property’s diversity within its workforce.
The NAACP Economic Department is currently hosting trainings on these web advocacy tools at the NAACP Regional Conferences. For more information, contact Dawn Chase at firstname.lastname@example.org.
