On December 6, 2012, the NAACP will release “Finding Our Way Back to First”, its new education report that identifies the best practices for educating all of America’s children.  The report highlights the solutions needed for our children to succeed in today’s global economy.

The NAACP earned its reputation in education by removing obstacles that blocked children from education. The Association’s struggle to open schools for all students with Brown v. Board of Education built a launching pad for our journey toward equality in  the 21st century.  However, our nation has fallen off the path toward educational achievement for all.

To help our country meet the educational challenges of the next century and compete internationally, the NAACP has developed a report for community activists across the country to advocate for research-informed, proactive education reforms that can help all children succeed.

Guest speakers including Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, former Education Secretary Dick Riley, Alma Powell of America's Promise Alliance, Gamaliel Executive Director Ana Garcia-Ashley, and AT&T Sr. Executive Vice President Jim Cicconi will discuss the importance of this report's principles and the need to improve public education in order for businesses to compete in the global marketplace.
