WHO: Craig Fugate, FEMA Administrator; Roslyn M. Brock, Chairman of the NAACP National Board of Directors; Leon Russell, Vice Chairman of the NAACP Board of Directors; Benjamin Todd Jealous, President and CEO of the NAACP; Kran Riley, President of the NAACP Orlando Unit; and others
WHAT: The NAACP will celebrate 104 years of civil rights advocacy by holding its annual national convention in Orlando, Florida. The convention will feature dozens of events, including remarks from U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, Haitian President Michel Martelly, NAACP President and CEO Benjamin Todd Jealous, NAACP Chairman Roslyn Brock and others.
On Friday, July 12th, NAACP leaders and convention speakers will preview the week’s events at an opening press conference.
Additionally, the NAACP will publicly sign a memorandum of agreement with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to that discusses their partnership around emergency preparedness and response. FEMA Administrator Craig Fugate will be on hand to provide remarks.
