ATLANTA, Georgia. (September 28, 2012) – The heartfelt inspirational drama Unconditional, starring Lynn Collins (X-Men Origins: Wolverine) and Michael Ealy (Think Like a Man), opened nationwide this weekend to strong reviews. But most reviewers missed a new “actress” on the scene: Roslyn M. Brock, Chairman of the NAACP National Board of Directors made a cameo appearance in the movie. The casting came about as a result of one of the producers who knew Brock and thought her presence would be a perfect fit for the inspirational message of the film-a message of reconciliation, forgiveness, love, and emotional healing.
For her part, Brock found the experience of working on the film unforgettable:
“This film portrays a real life hero who is making a daily difference in the lives of so many children,” said Brock. “I am deeply emboldened by the story of “Papa” Joe Bradford, and his dedication to serving fatherless children in his community. We need more positive male role models like “Papa” Joe in our community to encourage, inspire and motivate our children to excellence. Unconditional is a stirring film that will touch audiences and challenge them to consider what is most important in their own lives. Its my hope that all Americans will enjoy watching this film as much as I enjoyed being a part of it.”
“In an election season when politics seems to divide us as Americans, our hope is that Unconditional will be a 90-minute oasis in the midst of the chaos,” said producer J. Wesley Legg. “Themes of reconciliation, healing and personal renewal resonate with all Americans and we were excited to have Roslyn in our movie. She did an excellent job.”
Written and directed by Brent McCorkle, the film tells the story of Samantha Crawford (Lynn Collins), an acclaimed storybook artist, who seemingly had it all until she lost the love she cherished the most. When Sam’s storybook marriage is ripped away from her, she loses her faith and her will to live. However, a death-defying encounter with two children leads to a reunion with her oldest friend, Joe Bradford (Michael Ealy)… and begins Sam’s journey back toward God’s unconditional love.
“Papa” Joe spends his days serving fatherless children in the under-resourced community where he lives. Observing “Papa” Joe’s tireless love for “his” kids, Sam begins to find new purpose…until she comes face to face with her biggest fear.
National film critics are raving about Unconditional:
