NAACP Command Center
To ensure that all Americans are able to cast a free, unfettered ballot that is protected and counted, the NAACP is again activating its Election Day Command Center on November 4. The Command Center will be operating from the Association’s national headquarters located in west Baltimore.
The Command Center will act as ‘war room’ of sorts, where the NAACP in partnership with state and local organizations, legal advisors, community and faith leaders, in addition to its 1,700 branches across the country will be working to ensure the integrity of the voting process.
“Protection of voter rights and voter mobilization are among the core responsibilities this organization cherishes,” said NAACP President and CEO Benjamin Todd Jealous. “We will not tolerate tactics to suppress voters. In our view, voter disenfranchisement, harassment, intimidation and deception are simply un-American.”
The centerpiece of the effort is the free, nonpartisan hotlines (1-866-OUR VOTE for English speakers and 1-888-VE-Y-VOTA for Spanish speakers) which connect voters with questions or problems to legal experts who can offer impartial and confidential advice.
